# "A new version of this app is available"

This message means a DraftPilot update is ready. Close the add-in and open it again to pick up the latest version.

Every so often DraftPilot shows a small **App updated** dialog in the task pane, saying “A new version of this app is available. Click Reload to see the new version.”

Nothing is wrong. We have shipped an update and the copy of DraftPilot open in your Word session is the older one.

## What to do

1. Close the DraftPilot pane using the **X** in its top corner.

2. Open it again from the **DraftPilot** button in Word's ribbon.

That is all it takes. The pane reopens on the current version and the message goes away.

If you use Word in the browser, reloading the browser tab has the same effect.

## Before you close the pane

- **If a review or chat response is still running, let it finish.** Closing the pane stops work that is in progress, and you would need to start that run again.

- **Your document is not affected.** Closing the pane does not change your contract, and any redlines DraftPilot has already inserted stay in the document as tracked changes.

## If the message keeps coming back

Seeing it again a week or two later is normal, it just means there is another update. Seeing it every time you open DraftPilot is not.

If that is happening, fully quit Word (not just the document window) and reopen it, which clears the cached copy of the add-in that Word is holding on to.
